Co-Pilot360 is a range of safety systems installed in every Lincoln, making driving safer and easier. Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Plus is available or installed in select Lincoln models and provides even more advanced features to protect you and your passengers. We’ll examine how some of these features work.
Adaptive Cruise Control
This system reduces driver strain on long journeys or in heavy traffic by reducing the need to brake and accelerate again to keep a safe distance behind other vehicles. You can set the speed you want to maintain and your following distance, with a choice of keeping a short, medium, or long distance from the car ahead.
Once you’ve made your selections, you can activate the system, and it will follow these instructions until you intervene. If a vehicle ahead slows or brakes, your Lincoln will automatically reduce speed to keep the pre-set distance, then increase speed once the other vehicle accelerates.
360-Degree Camera
As a driver, you always have to anticipate the unexpected, and this can be difficult when you need to keep an eye on every direction. This feature uses cameras installed in the front, rear, and on both sides to give you a clear view of everything around you. The system builds a real-time bird’s-eye view of the area around your Lincoln and displays it on your front screen. Additionally, you can select a closer view from an individual camera in your chosen direction.
The second camera view’s default setting is directly ahead, but this automatically changes to a rear view when you shift into reverse. Guidelines will appear on the screen to help you achieve the correct angle to maneuver into a tight space. This feature also provides audio warnings if you’re too close to an object to prevent a collision.
Reverse Braking Assist
This system uses radar sensors in your Lincoln’s rear bumper to scan the area behind you for potential hazards. When reversing, the sensors scan directly behind you and in arcs on either side for pedestrians and moving or stationary objects in your path. It can also detect a vehicle traveling at up to 37 mph that will pass behind you.
If anything is detected, the system provides warning beeps that rise in intensity if you continue to close in on the object. If you can’t react in time by braking, automatic emergency braking will be applied to stop your Lincoln almost instantly and prevent an accident.
These are just some of the numerous systems that protect you when you’re behind the wheel of a Lincoln. If you’d like to know more about these or any other features of Co-Pilot 360 Plus, contact us today at Bob Maxley Lincoln in Detroit, MI.
