The tires on your vehicle are one of the most important safety features, and proper tire maintenance between purchases can improve the handling of your vehicle as well as gas mileage. Regular maintenance at your local Lincoln dealer will leave your car driving better and will help your tires last longer.

When To Rotate Your Tires

Most technicians would recommend rotating your tires between every 5,000 and 10,000 miles. A good rule of thumb is to get your tires rotated at every oil change or every other oil change. We recommend that you check with one of our expert technicians or read your manufacturer’s warranty to get the appropriate interval.

When To Visit Your Lincoln Dealer To Get New Tires

The Number of Miles

Every tire has a mileage rating. The better the tire, the more miles you can drive before needing to replace them. Tires can be rated anywhere from 30,000 to 70,000 miles.

The Lincoln Test

You can use Lincoln on a penny to check the tread depth on your tires. If you place a penny with Lincoln’s head down into the tire treads, and you can see all of his head, your tires are not safe. Although this is a good test, you should always have them checked with a tire gauge whenever possible.

Uneven Wear

If your car is out of alignment or your tires are not rotated properly, the tires will not wear evenly.

Cracks in the Sidewall

If you notice cracks or grooves in the sidewall of your tires, replace them immediately. This could indicate that you are close to a blow out.

The Indicator Bar Is Visible

Most new tire models come with an indicator bar. The bar runs perpendicular to the tread and is barely visible when the tires are brand new. Once more than one bar is visible, it is time to start tire shopping.

The Age of Your Tires

Once tires are over 10 years old, it’s a good idea to replace them. This includes your spare tire!

When To Get Your Tires Aligned

Generally you should get your tires aligned once or twice a year. However if you drive on bumpy, pot hole filled roads regularly, you may need to get more frequent alignments.

With proper maintenance, your vehicle and your tires will run smoother for longer. Lincoln offers free pickup and delivery, making it easy to service your vehicle. Take care of your tires and schedule your next tire rotation at the Service Center at Bob Maxey Lincoln in Detroit, MI
