A Heritage of Luxury — Looking Back to Lincoln History

Here at Bob Maxey Ford Lincoln, we take pride in offering Lincoln models to our friends and neighbors around Saint Clair Shores, Roseville, and surrounding areas. This is largely because Lincoln is in and of itself a legendary brand. In this entry, we pay homage to the maker of our celebrated lineup by looking back at the milestones of its long-lived and successful past.

The Lincoln Motor Company was founded in 1917 by Henry Leland and his son, Wilfred. Together they envisioned a new luxury line that would eventually become a hallmark of the American automotive industry. September of 1920 marked the production of the newly founded manufacturer's first-ever car, and it helped establish the company as a premium brand.

Come 1922, Edsel Ford—son of Henry Ford—took over the role of president for the company. Under his direction, fresh designs were introduced and expanded the collection to include roadsters, town cars, and more! Sales skyrocketed as a result and transformed the Lincoln Motor Company into a premier supplier of internationally-renowned motorcars.

Since that time, the brand continued to oversee further innovation of its models. For instance, many improvements were made to the chassis, engine, and other integral components to bolster capability. Even now, this forward-thinking approach continues to impact the evolution of the Lincoln lineup.

As you can see, it is with good reason that our Detroit dealership is thrilled to give drivers nearby from Warren to Grosse Pointe and beyond the opportunity to enjoy the Lincoln experience.
